News reports from around the world convey that Gazans are rising up against the Hamas government, demanding them to step aside, across the war-stricken territory. Large-scale demonstrations began at the end of March but were halted over the weekend and the Eid al-Fitr holiday. “These protests were very openly and obviously asking Hamas to step down, get out of the political and military picture in Gaza,” according to one Gazan speaking to The Jewish Insider. The protests, partly critical of the Israeli government but mostly of Hamas, continue while ‘pro-Palestine’ activists hardly even acknowledge the uprisings or dismiss them as the consequence of nefarious ‘foreign influence’.
